Kevin O’Leary is an entrepreneur, investor, financial commentator, writer and television personality. Born in Montreal, Canada on July 9, 1954, he lived in several different countries growing up. He received a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and anthropology from the University of Waterloo and earned an MBA from The University of Western Ontario in 1980. He is married to Linda O’Leary and together they have two children: Trevor and Savannah.

O’Leary’s first business venture was a small television production launched immediately after college. He was bought out by a partner and went on to co-create a software company called SoftKey, financed in part by his mother’s seed investment of $10,000. By 1994, SoftKey was a major force in the educational software market. They bought out The Learning Company (TLC) in 1995, then were acquired by Mattel in a $3.8 billion dollar stock swap. O’Leary quickly departed from Mattel and became co-investor and director in Storage Now facilities, which was sold for $110 million.

O’Leary is the founder and chairman of the mutual fund company O’Leary Funds, and he continues to invest in multiple companies while also serving as an advisor on numerous boards. He is the investor and co-host for Discovery Project Earth, a project exploring ways to reverse climate change.

He has released two books which share insights into business and personal relationships. He has appeared on several television shows, including ABC’s Shark Tank where he is referred to as “Mr. Wonderful.”
